As with so many homes built in the 1980’s, the floor plan though livable required just a few more square feet to be perfect. This 600 square foot, 2-story addition was done to expand the family room and kitchen and the basement below. The gracious room sizes now accommodate a gourmet kitchen and large island where many can gather and visit while the owners cook. The breakfast nook can now house a full size table and the large, but cozy family room allows for big game parties and movie nights. A new first floor laundry was also added to allow for easier living. The new basement area was left unfinished.
Special Challenges: To everyone’s surprise, the utility company had run a major line through the property without an easement, right in the area where the basement was to go. Working with the utility company to relocate the line out of the work area and getting the appropriate paperwork prepared was an unexpected task.
